How to wear a silk slip, five ways

A silk slip is the most considered piece a woman can own. It moves the way she moves. It carries the warmth of skin without insisting on it. And it does the heavy lifting between day and dinner with a quietness most other dresses cannot.

Layered under a relaxed Belgian linen shirt, it becomes a slow morning. Belted with a thin leather, it becomes a working lunch. Paired with knee boots and a sculpted blazer, it becomes a Tuesday in the city. Worn alone with a bare collarbone and a heel, it becomes a table at eight.

The fifth way is the most useful: leave it untouched. A bias slip in oyster silk satin needs no companion. The cut is the dress. The drape is the styling. Everything else is decoration.
